We are incredibly honored and humbled to announce we have collaborated with SUNY Adirondack to help bring awareness of cyber security needs to high school students. As technology moves forward and evolves, so does the need to protect ourselves from cyber-attacks and to do so, we need to be educated on both preventative measures and problem resolutions.
In March, we will be hosting “Hack-A-Thon,” an event designed to inform students through a series of technology-inspired challenges such as “Capture the Flag,” in which competitors will do what they can to protect a computer asset from intrusion.
“It is a competition to test out your skills. We figure this would be a great opportunity to get high school students interested in the college, interested in the cybersecurity field,” ADKtechs President and Owner Jared Humiston said.
Judges will be on-hand to gauge how well the students compete.
This isn’t our first partnership with SUNY Adirondack. We have also provided job opportunities for graduates, given insight into industry trends and held presentations there. We also assisted with the institution’s new associate’s degree program in Cybersecurity, which will debut this fall.
“Cybersecurity is the future of technology. If you guys haven’t seen it in the news, it affects elections. It affects everything,” he said.
