Why did you choose Ronald McDonald House Charities to be this month’s ADKcares recipient?
My charity of choice is Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). RMHC opened up its first house in Philadelphia, PA in 1974 after recognizing the needs of families caring for sick children. The idea behind this charity is to enable, support, and facilitate family-centered care, providing the comforts of home without incurring the cost of food or hotel stay all while staying close to their sick child(ren). RMHC currently has 375+ houses around the world located near children’s hospitals, 250+ family rooms located inside the hospitals offering a quiet respite to all families, and 50+ Ronald McDonald mobile care programs that bring fundamental medical and dental care to under-served communities. I chose this charity because I’ve been blessed to receive amazing hospitality through volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House located near Albany Medical Center.
